The civil engineer transforms our environment through design, construction, maintenance and inspection of infrastructure to provide the community with civil works that meet its needs in an ethical, sustainable and cost-effective manner. The courses include an educational program of technical depth and breadth as well as a broad liberal education.

The Bachelor of Sciences in Civil Engineering has four areas of emphasis: |

- Systems and transport ways
- Water treatment and resources
- Soil mechanics

Civil Engineering joins the mission of the university, which is committed to the principle of accessibility with the most disadvantaged, comprehensiveness in its offerings, and adaptability to satisfy the needs of the community served. The Institution is also committed to the development of intellect and social ethics. In addition, it accepts the responsibility of fostering among its students respect for human dignity and their personal commitment towards improving society. |

Program Educational Objectives: |

A few years after graduation, graduates of the bachelor of sciences in Civil Engineering from Caribbean University will:
- Evaluate, analyze, design, develop or make decisions over CE projects by considering safety standards, codes, regulations, ethics, resource optimization, costs and available technology within environmental, economic, social and political contexts.
- Communicate effectively in both English and Spanish, and work in diverse, global and multidisciplinary teams.
- Extend their learning process through lifelong professional development or other graduate education.
- Become leaders in their profession and be involved in professional state board and associations..

It is expected that by the time of graduation, our students will have:
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
- an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
- an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
- an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
- an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
- an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
- an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies

Employment opportunities |
|
|
Once finish the bachelor degree of science in Civil Engineering, the graduate can get a job in a construction, environmental, soil or design related companies, as well as, government agencies. In addition, after get the professional engineer license (PE), graduates can develop their own design or consulting company.

The priority of the program is to provide the best tools to our students in order to prepare then to both, solve the typical problems that an engineer will face during their firsts working years and to continuous learning through their professional career.
